Pictures of a Blakely Bernardi

Here are some pictures of my 1981 Blakely Bernardi.

It is equipped with the Ford 2L engine and automatic, quite likely from the Pinto as they most of them were. At this point, it is still quite good looking for it's age, but does have several items that must be reworked. Well, all in due time. When I start working on it, I am sure that there will be some stories to tell.

Peter;

I now understand where your questions about the "bench behind the seats" came from. I'm reasonably sure your cab is different from mine - in particular, your seats rest against the rear bulkhead. I wonder if the V8 Bernardi had a different body layout or dimensions than the body for the smaller engines. I think the tale of the tapes will be very interesting - as I always say, I can contribute more when spring arrives.

Peter;

Spring has sprung and I have my Bernardi in for servicing. The mechanic needs to know what source vehicle may have contributed the rear brakes and the front suspension - do your Bernardi files identify the possible donors?

Hi
The Blakely cars were all designed around the Ford Pinto. Some of the later ones used the Mustang II. Glad to hear you are finally digging out of the snow. Sorry for the late response. Why don't you join our little email group. We'd love to see some pictures.

Peter;

Thanks for the feedback. The snows have melted and I have posted three photos of the car on Wikimedia at:

http://toolserver.org/~daniel/WikiSense/Gallery.php?wikifam=commons.wikimedia.org&img_user_text=Bernardi638

I have also put the same pictures into the article we have been working on, and moved the article from my user space into Wikipedia proper. The new address is:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blakely_Bernardi

I haven't yet pulled out the measuring tapes, so the comparison of Bernardi body styles will have to wait a little longer. I can say authoritatively, however, that there is a small shelf behind the seat on my car - my camera and tripod were stashed in it tonight for the photo session in the park.

Peter: I just purchased a bernardi that I will be working on for quite a while. Do you have nay of the articles you mentioned (especially the Kit Car article) that you could e-mail me? Thanks. Jim

Hi, I bought my Bernardi from Tony Assenza in 1982, It still runs great, has the 2.3 liter pinto. I need a new top and a paint job. Funny thing i tried to paint it at Maaco and a couple of other body & paint shops in Fort Lauderdale, Fl, and they all tell me I have to go to a custom paint shop, very annoying and costly. It seems a simple job to me, I don't want to spend $3000.00 The only other thought is to replace the engine with a V6, so it will feel like a new car, a V8 would probably require to much other work? I love it, could not possibly replace it for the money. My email is negrin22@aol.com

Are the Blakely Bernardi Bodies still made today?
