New Blakely Owner found - 2

Indeed so. I saw this as an ebay offering, located in the San Diego area, and lost my bid. Very shortly after that I had the opportunity to go to San Diego, and asked if I could see the car before it was shipped to the winning bidder. No problem. Here are some of the pics I took.

Peter,

Do you habe an idea on what was the engine spec in the car.

Not sure anymore. I don't recall asking, and assumed that it was the std Pinto 2.3L engine.
Now I know that early versions had a 2.0 engine and they basically look very similar. I have not yet learned what to look for visually, but I do know that the 2.0L engine is about half an inch shorter, and little or nothing is interchangeable between the two.

Peter,

The 2.0 SOHC was available only a couple years in the states, from 72 to 74 or 75. The 2.0 after those years is actualy a debores version of the 2.3 "LIMA" engine and was made until the late 90s! The 2,3 is almost the same lenght but with a wider block.

Peter,

From the engine picture it seems that the engine is a 2.3 byt looking at the loop of the main timing belt. Also I noitice what seems to be a power steering pump on the right am I correct?

I am not sure of what you are looking at to be a power steering unit. Will have to look at my 2.3L engine and see.

Peter,

After looking at the picture (and confirmation from the owner) it is a 2.0 L.

My bad

Yes - it is easy to get confused. They do look very much alike, and one has to know what to look at. I still dont know yet.

Lots of differences between the 2.3l and 2.0L. The 2.3 had 4 cam towers vs 3 on the 2.0L. The 2.0L should have a block casting number that starts with either 69 or 70 (I think 69 was the first year for the 2.0L). The 2.3 first year was 1974
